05/10/2023: Pretty apartment - pretty dirty in fact
It looks just like the Vrbo photos when you walk into 162-38 Kavanagh Street, in Melbourne's Southbank but once the jetlag starts to fade you notice things. Well we did.
It began with the filthy vacuum cleaner that tumbled out of the bedroom wardrobe. It was clogged with all manner of shite and its brush rollers were jammed to a standstill with lots of hair and Something Sticky That Had Dried.
As our eyes grew accustomed to the disappointing gloom of that early summer, we saw it.
Lurking everywhere, twinkling in the right light or wafting gently in clumps.
Thick, thick dust on the sideboard. Hairs in quiet corners. Other people's hair and not just from heads. Mixed with dust bunnies plus the odd sequin, threads from fabrics, bits of those plastic price tags that stores clip through goods for sale.
Vrbo pass me straight on to the renters, who in turn are a bunch of landlords advertising under a company,'Madecomfy'. If you think this is starting to look like a way of kicking issues into the long grass, my experience could prove you to be so psychic. Nothing so far has been done about this problem on our day of arrival, but with a bit of extra ranting from me they asked for precise photos of the 'furniture affected'.
I was quite cross and disappointed, especially as their company bumf bangs on about 'enhanced disinfectant cleaning'

Not wanting to have an allergic reaction, I addressed the inadequate cleaning myself - photographs below.
Begs the question - this $147 I have been charged for cleaning........doesn't look like value for money to me, and I am regretting the $880 a week I have paid in advance to stay here.
I have not (yet) photographed the spare duvet, which I fetched out during a very cold night on 4th-5th October, only to find it stained with menstrual blood. Not mine.
From my experience to date, neither Vrbo through whom I booked, or Madecomfy who work directly with this host, have any means of ensuring that the owner of this property puts this disgusting state of affairs right.
So my advice to anyone thinking of booking is, it looks very pretty but dust mites have been crapping all over it, some awfully grubby people seem to have had shed their coats over it, and whoever has been cleaning it doesn't like corners or underneaths and doesn't use mop, brush or vacuum cleaner.
